As a child growing-up in Colorado, my idea of a good day included wandering far enough away from my folks' cabin to get myself totally lost, and then finding my way back. I gained alot from those early adventures - not the least of which is a healthy respect for things greater than myself. Since that time, I've managed to spend a good deal of my time getting "lost" - on the beaches of Mexico - on the freeways of southern California - on the highways and backroads of the West - but I always manage to find my way back to the Central Rockies - back to Northern Colorado - back home. And once I realized I was back home for good, I set out on the most direct career path to becoming a professional landscape painter I could manage. This entailed, among other things, being a ranch hand, a pack guide, and more recently, a woodworker. Countless hours of observing nature on foot and on horseback - and learning from a master craftsman what true craftmanship is - have both helped in my pursuit of landscape painting. I now paint full-time...mostly here in Northern Colorado where I live with my wife and son.
I am a member of the Oil Painters of America and Plein Air Artists Colorado. I am mainly a self-taught painter. My passion for the outdoors - and the sense of awe I am filled with by the glory of God's creation - fuel my desire to represent it on canvas.
